Event Details

Our February 18th potluck dinner meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. and will be held in the Barnett Barn on the grounds of the Guy B. Woodward Museum. The public is invited to attend. Please bring a main dish, salad or dessert to serve eight. Our Vice President/Program Chair, Mischa Dobrotin has, as usual, arranged for us to have a great program.

Our guest speaker will be Therese Grybow who will relate the history of the Guglielmetti-Traverso family property in Mission Valley. The family eventually sold the land to the City of San Diego. San Diego then used the land to build a professional football stadium.

As a side note, the dairy industry was once big business in San Diego. In the 1950s, dairy products were the third largest agricultural product in the county. One in fifteen San Diegans were connected in some way to dairying, according to one estimate. Mission Valley, today’s center of shopping malls and condominiums, was filled with dairy farms.
