2018 marks the 12th Annual Backcountry Dance and BBQ in Julian, California. Come to Julian on June 9, 2018 to enjoy the great sounds of Tony Suraci as the Highwayman and The Big Fat Steve Band. You’ll enjoy a wonderful BBQ prepared by the Son’s of the American Legion. Local and other Craft Beer will be available as well as wine.
The afternoon and evening will be full of goings-on. Line Dancing Lessons, a kid’s play area, Air Guitar Contests, music and the beauty of the surrounding Julian mountains. Locals and visitors alike fill the field with laughter, good times, new and old friends.
The brain-child of the Sons of the American Legion in Julian, it began and has grown as an event to raise funds for Veterans, kids, local schools and other charitable organizations in the community. From the beginning, the “Dance” has featured the best in country music and dancing on the huge floor and stage built by the Sons. Fabulous BBQ has been a keystone of the event with all the food cooked on-site in the Santa Maria style on an open oak flame. The “Dance” is a throwback to a simpler time with twinkly lights and bonfires back-dropped by dark mountain skies.
Presale admission is $20 for adults. The price at the gate is $25 and $5 for children under 16. Get tickets online at www.juliandance.org.
